In spite of China’s efforts to control the coronavirus outbreak, it has spread to 29 other countries. Chaos reigns as ignorance abounds. Here is what we know. To quarantine a population seems like the right thing to do but still the innocent suffer. Two Diamond Princess cruise ship passengers have died from coronavirus and a report indicates that 621 cases are confirmed.
China’s PR campaign is working, touting a big drop in new cases of the coronavirus as a sign it has contained the epidemic while China’s death toll reports 2,118 deaths. Fear grows as deaths increase in 29 other countries. Iran reported two deaths on Wednesday, the first fatalities in the Middle East.
Foreign Minister Wang Yi announced, “China’s forceful action has contained the spread of the virus inside China and also the spread of the virus to other parts of the world.”
Meanwhile, an Update 02/18/2020 showed the total number of cases of infection at 75,767 with deaths at 2,129. Countries now infected include: Japan 7233; South Korea 1041; Singapore 840; Hong Kong 672; Thailand 350; Taiwan 241; Malaysia 220; Germany 160; Vietnam 160; Australia 150; United States 150; France 121; Macau 100; United Arab Emirates 90; United Kingdom 90; Canada 80; Philippines 31; India 30; Italy 30; Iran 22; Russia 20; Spain 20; Belgium 10; Cambodia 10; Egypt 10; Finland 10; Nepal 10; Sri Lanka 10; Sweden 10.
Chaos onboard cruise quarantine: Japan’s government faces criticism over quarantine measures on the Diamond Princess cruise ship. The ship moored in Yokohama may be the biggest coronavirus cluster outside the Chinese epicenter. An infectious specialist at Kobe University protested the quarantine as completely inadequate in terms of infection control.
Richard Brennan, regional emergency director at the World Health Organization (WHO), said China was making “tremendous progress in a short period of time” but cautioned that it was not over yet.
The virus is a human’s only real enemy other than ourselves. Scientists are studying the ever-mutating virus and we cannot keep up. It is not that the virus has a brain. It is an evil mechanical blotch of tangled protein with its own RNA code. The virus is relentless in its robotic mission of destruction.
The virus does not eat, secret, mobilize, or replicate with but one mission – death. It has but one capability with which to accomplish its mission – impregnate its RNA seed into a weak living cell that does not have the strength or ability to resist.
Healthy glycans and glycoproteins protect the cell from viral harm. Glycans and glycoproteins are the gatekeepers of the cell. They form the high tech communication shield around all cells in plants, animals, and humans.
