Texas Endowment for Medical Research’s personal Disaster of Hurricane Harvey
The worst storm in recent history destroyed years of medical records containing valuable research that can only be replaced by duplicating the research. In 2016 Texas Endowment for Medical Research was given the rights to and possession of vast medical research records that were kept under lock and key in metal file cabinets in compliance with HIPAA Law. Active process was underway to present these finding to an IRB for publication of medical papers when Hurricane Harvey destroyed the research. Over $600,000 is needed to recover the neurological research with advanced Glycoscience technology.
Medical records destroyed under six feet of flood water.
